I am an artisan that loves taking concepts and creating either something new, or upcycling/giving new life to a favorite outfit.
I work with other collaborators as well to commemorate memories with our items or yours. Ask about custom work!
I have been doing art and crafts for over 30 years in the Chicagoland area.
They say that having limited funds makes you more resourceful. I am not sure if that is the case, but my immigrant parents taught me that something handmade is something from the heart and does not have to be expensive. This was good, as I learned how to make art from things people would toss away.
As a child, I loved drawing, sewing, knitting and crocheting. As a teen, I graduated to beads, metals and jewelry making. As a teen, I started doing local art and craft fairs to help save for college.
Making and selling jewelry and small sculptures paid for part of my college education. I do not have a formal art education but rather learned from my parents and others by observing or experimenting and do not use patterns unless needed.
As life progressed, I went into the corporate world but retained a foot in the artistic one to nourish my soul. Now, I am embracing that side of my life and am moving forward in a creative realm!
Creative & Useful Artistic Works
My biggest challenge is in working with new media and transforming my concepts into something that is useful, artistic and pleasing to the buyer or recipient.
I love to see the clients expression when they see the finished piece. Sometimes, I am not that lucky to see it in person, but often I get a thank you note from the recipient or even a call. I love to make happy clients!
I provide hands on interaction and experience with the client. If it is a unique clothing design or upcycle that requires fittings, or a quilt from clothing and more of a loved one. I translate client ideas and concepts into finished artistic works.
If you never try, you will never know.
Yes! I have partnered with a friend at 2 local brick and mortar locations - the Painted Tree in Naperville and Kildeer, IL. It allows me to showcase some of my pieces to local clients.
